    About Caribbean Bayra

    How it all started

From the traditions of Africa and India the West Indian Bangel (Bayra) has become a hallmark of Caribbean and South American culture.  The Bangles made of copper, silver and gold were made as a form of currency throughout the world and are now a symbol of the iconic West Indian culture passed from generation to generation.

Right from birth, many Caribbean and Latin American families are presented with a single “Baby Bangle” for a boy or a pair of bangles for a girl made of Gold or Silver; The legacy begins

    3 Generations of Jewelers

Caribbean Bayra is part of a long line of Jewelers spanning 3 generations. This family started making West Indian bangles in the 1940’s in Trinidad and migrated with my father, Haroon after serving in Vietnam, to a brown stone in Brooklyn New York.  After 8 years operating on 47 Street in Manhattan New York under MO’s Jewelry, he retired back to the West Indies and opened a new business in Grenada called Spice Island Jewelry.  Later, we expanded into several other individual businesses Trin-Bayra in Trinidad, Exotic Creations by Marjon, Caribbijou and now Caribbean Bayra all in the United States.

At Caribbean Bayra, a veteran owned business and ran by the eldest son, we supply the world with the original handmade West Indian Bangles.  Many of our customers are from The United States, Toronto - Canada and London.

    About our Silver and Gold

We use nothing but the best .999 fine silver in our production and our .925 sterling silver exceeds international standards.  What does that mean? Our sterling silver has more silver per gram than international standards.  We use the best quality .999 fine gold in our gold production.  Bottom line, you get more for your buck from Caribbean Bayra and we guarantee every product.

These handmade bangles are embossed with our unique family pattern.  This pattern has been used for generations to distinguish our products. If you see it on another person, you know from whom they acquired it from. We have also added numerous other designs to our production. They are traditionally sold in pairs but singles are also available.  We additionally have made unique earrings and pendants to match.  Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for new items.

The cocoa pod dates to back to the Aztecs and flourishes on landmasses close to the equator. Cocoa was introduced into the West Indies by the Spaniards and became a major export for the region and is iconic symbol to all West Indians.
